10 Units to Complete Level A1 in Spanish (I.3)

Hola amigos de ABC Spanish Lessons!!!

We are still on unit 1, of our Begginers Spanish Course. Remember we are following the book: Aula del Sur. (Publising house: Difusión. Level: A1) And today we'll be learning more ways to ask for our personal details.

Imagine you are at a reception of a language school, and on the first day you need to register yourself. The receptionist will kindly ask for your contact details in Spanish of course...!

You will need to know questions like this:
(I'm adding the meaning but it is not always the literal translation)

¿Cómo te llamas? / What's your name?
¿Cuántos años tienes? / How old are you?
¿A qué te dedicas? / What's your job?
¿De dónde eres? / Where are you from?
¿Tienes correo electrónico? / What's your e-mail?
¿Cuál es tu número de teléfono? / What's your phone number?
¿Tienes celular? / What's your mobile?

Would you like to listen a real conversation on this context? Visit ABC Spanish Lessons in London and go to videos and materials there you'll find Audio Aula del Sur A1.1 you will need to download  pista (track) 2, 3 and 4.

On the actual book we have an activity especially for this lesson, Please let me know if you are interested in receiving the full lesson on a private or group class.

At the end of this lesson, students are able complete a card with their own information:

Me llamo____________________ y soy (de)_____________________________. Vivo en ________________________. Tengo ______________________años. Y soy/trabajo en_________________. Mi número de teléfono es el____________________y mi (dirección de) correo electrónico es____________________________________________.

I will be very happy to help you!!! to learn how to complete your own personal detail information card in Spanish. I look forward to teaching you. And please send me an email with your questions and comments about this blog!

Hasta pronto!

10 Units to Complete Level A1 in Spanish (I.2)

Hola!!!!

I'm back, just a quick update, after a day being sick, you know the ups and downs of being a self employed, if you get sick no body else do the work...

Anyways, here we are. Day two of our first week in which we are suppose to cover the first unit.
We were talking about famous people from the Spanish speaking world.

And let me ask you, as I ask to my students. ¿Conoces personajes famosos del mundo hispano?
The answers are always very similar: Salma Hayek, Penelope Cruz, Shakira, Chicharito, Diego Rivera y Frida Kahlo, etc.

shakira
And then I ask them: ¿A qué se dedica "..."? to start learning professions and as a complement the next question ¿De dónde es "..." ? So we start learning nationalities.

We practice with other famous characters, their nationalities and professions, have fun, gossip a bit about them and in between some grammar.

Today we spend some time during the lesson practicing a bit with some pronuntiation exercises, I believe that it is very important to get the right pronuntiation at the very beginning so you can have a solid development of your learning with this you will make things much more easier for you afterwards.

I hope you have enjoyed this, that I wanted to share with you, and I'll see you tomorrow!

Ah! and for todays lesson, my student had to do as a homework an exercise to practice nationalities that we will use tomorrow to revisit different rules about the gender of nouns!

And please remember that If you are interested in having Spanish lessons with me just send me an email and we can have a first trial lesson, and you too can try and see if this is for you!

Looking forward to hearing from you

10 units to complete level A1 in Spanish (I.1)

Hi there!
I am going to write about this small project of mine, I want to talk about my experience teaching Spanish to one of my students from ABC Spanish Lessons in London spanish
Let me tell you a bit about his profile, he is english speaker, with some knowledge of french and some exposure to Spanish as he already had some lessons with me last year. He has visited Mexico before and now he moved to Mexico city because he is in love of a very special person.
We are going to have lessons five times a week, from monday to friday. We are following the book Aula Latina as this book has an approach to the vocabulary used in Mexico. The level: A1
I usually send to all of my students a link with a video where they can start learning the alphabet in Spanish.
Today Monday we started with unit 1. We have set up our main goals and by the end of the week my student is suppose to know the following themes:

1. Saludos y despedidas
2. dar y pedir datos personales
3. recursos para preguntar sobre palabras
4.  las 3 conjugaciones -ar, -er, -ir
5. Los verbos: SER, TENER, LLAMARSE
6. Los números del 1 al 100
7. El abecedario / el alfabeto
8. Las nacionalidades
9. Las profesiones

On our first day we pass through greetings and how to farewell. The numbers from 1 to 20 and then I usually go straight to the key questions that they need for class that are also very useful when they are in any Spanish speaking country.
For example:
Disculpe, ¿dónde está el banco? / Excuse me, where is the bank?
¿cómo se dice " ...." en español? / How do you say "..." in Spanish?
¿cómo se escribe "..." ? / How do you write "..." ? /
Or we pass through other useful phrases like:
No entiendo! / I don't understand
We learn many others but this are just examples of  resources useful suring the lesson and outside of the class when they first arrive to a new city and need to move around with their basic skills.
Please let me share something that I found this are Useful_Spanish_Phrases_for_beginners
After our lesson of one hour, my student has home assignments, this is to complete exercises with numbers, vocabulary with the alphabet and others.
I hope you like this, and that you can continue with me through the process of this new proyect. And of course if you want to have lessons you are always more than welcome to come!
